Dust & Myrrh: Holistic Wellness Coaching and Herbalism This Scope of Practice outlines the services I provide as a Health & Wellness Coach and Herbal Educator, as well as the boundaries that guide my work. My practice is grounded in the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching (NBHWC) Code of Ethics, principles of client autonomy, and evidence-informed educational standards. 1. Health & Wellness Coaching As a wellness coach, I support clients in making sustainable lifestyle changes through a client-centered, non-prescriptive approach. My role includes: What I Do as a Coach: • Facilitate exploration of your personal goals and motivations • Support behavior change through reflective inquiry and collaborative planning • Help you identify strengths, values, and internal resources • Promote self-efficacy, mindfulness, and resilience • Provide accountability in alignment with your own priorities • Offer general education on evidence-informed wellness topics (e.g., stress management, sleep hygiene, lifestyle routines) What I Do Not Do: • Diagnose, treat, or interpret medical or mental health conditions • Provide psychotherapy, counseling, or crisis intervention • Offer medical advice, prescribe medications, or recommend supplements as treatment • Replace the guidance of licensed medical or mental health professionals Clients are encouraged to consult appropriate licensed practitioners for medical, psychiatric, nutritional, or clinical herbal guidance. 2. Herbal Education I provide educational information about herbs, traditional uses, energetics, and research for general wellness learning. What I Do in Herbal Education: • Teach about herbs from traditional and evidence-informed perspectives • Offer information on safe, general herbal practices • Share botanical folklore, energetics, and historical context • Educate through workshops, blogs, newsletters, and classes • Support informed decision-making regarding herbal wellness • Emphasize safety, contraindications, and responsible use What I Do Not Do in Herbal Education: • Prescribe herbs or create individualized herbal treatment plans • Diagnose or treat health conditions with herbs • Recommend herbs as replacements for medical treatment • Provide clinical herbalism services (until applicable credentials are obtained and Scope is updated) Clients should always consult a licensed medical professional or clinical herbalist regarding herbal use related to specific health conditions.
